Molton Brown's story began in 1971, when Caroline Burstein and Michael Collis, an audacious duo, opened a hairdressing salon on South Molton Street in Mayfair, London. Ahead of their time, these two innovators refused to use traditional chemical formulas in favour of plant-based products.
They made their first products by hand in the basement of their living room, then moved production to their country house, Motts Hall, in Elsenham, England, where they grew their own herbs. To this day, Molton Brown operates its own production plant in the same town and is committed to manufacturing all its products in the UK.
